Shamima Begum (born in 1999) is a British Homemaker and Controversial Personality from London, England, United Kingdom. In 2015, she joined ISIS with her two friends. Shamima left the UK with 2 of her classmates from east London. Furthermore, she was just 15 years old at that time.
She left London’s Gatwick Airport with her classmates named Amira Abase and Kadiza Sultana. Later, she located in a refugee camp in northern Syria. Moreover, they stayed in a couple of houses as they were doubted of being spies.
In addition, the girls later arrived in Raqqa. Begum also applied to marry an English-speaking fighter. The 19-year-old Shamima tied the knot with her husband Yago Riedijk (ISIS member).
The other girls also married a foreign-born ISIS fighter. In January 2017, Begum and her spouse fled the city and landed in Baghouz.
Controversy & Struggle to Return to the United Kingdom
She is currently 9-months pregnant. Furthermore, ISIS bride told the newspaper that she wants to come back home i.e. England to give birth to her child. Earlier, her two children died in infancy from malnutrition and illness.
Moreover, she also decided to escape from ISIS’ last stand in the front-line village of Baghouz in eastern Syria two weeks ago. Begum also cited concerns for her unborn baby.
Her partner capitulated to Syrian soldiers allied to the US- supported Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) weeks ago. She had not seen him since then. However, it is not clear that her request will be accepted by the UK Home Office. They have severe rules for citizens who traveled to ISIS territory.
