Samira Nasr (born in 1964) is a Canadian Editor-in-Chief and Executive Fashion Director from Montreal. She recently garnered huge media attention after becoming the first woman of color who is named as an upcoming editor-in-chief of “Harper’s Bazaar” on June 09, 2020.
The magazine released the statement where they said Samira will take the place of Glenda Bailey (longtime editor). Bailey led the publication house for more than two decades. Harper’s Bazaar took the decision amidst the Black Lives Matter Movement.
Earlier, Nasr served as an executive fashion director. Anna Wintour is a longtime editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine. She wrote in a statement that it’s high time to give space to Black writers, editors, designers, photographers, and other creators.
She also added that Vogue magazine also made many mistakes by posting hurtful and intolerant stories. Anna took full responsibility for those mistakes. Samira will join Harper’s Bazaar on the 6th of July 2020[1]The New York Times.
