UPSC Journey
Ria Dabi joined the General Studies Prelims cum Mains program (2019-20) at the IAS coaching center Vajiram & Ravi Coaching Centre, Old Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi. She studied for 10 hours daily at home after her coaching classes. She did not lose hope when the UPSC exams were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and continued her studies through online coaching classes.

She cleared the UPSC CSE 2020 with flying colors and secured the 15th rank in the country. Her total scores were 1021 (859 on the written test and 162 on the personality test). She opted for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) as her first preference.

During an interview, she shared the key factors required to crack the UPSC exam. She said,
While I was in college, I started my preparation but it was tough to handle both so I actually started after 2019. I would say that the key to cracking the UPSC examination is consistent hard work, discipline and a lot of patience. There are many sacrifices that you have to make while preparing, like giving up on your social media life but you have to do that to stay consistent and disciplined.
She also shared her views on the caste system and reservation policy in India. She said,
Caste system is extremely rigid and I think it should not exist. Reservation policy is very important for social justice and equality. It gives opportunities to those who have been historically oppressed and discriminated against.

Ria Dabi is currently an IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre. She got married to Manish Kumar, an IPS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, in 2023. Manish Kumar is also a civil services exam qualifier who ranked 84th in the UPSC CSE 2020.

Ria Dabi’s husband is posted as an assistant superintendent of police in the Jalna district of Maharashtra. Ria Dabi’s current posting and cadre are not known yet, as she is still undergoing training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.
