Olive Mugenda (born in 1956) is a Kenyan Academic, Researcher and Academic Administrator from Nairobi, Kenya. She remained the Vice Chancellor of Kenyatta University until 20 March 2016. Furthermore, the 63-year-old researcher joined the post in 2006.
She became the first lady to lead a public university in the African Great Lakes area. Olive started her career as a teacher at Kenyatta University in 1981. Moreover, she later promoted from Lecturer to Head of Department. Mugenda also became the Dean of Faculty of the university.
In addition, Olive Mugenda was the wife of Abel Mugenda. He was also a professor at the university. Recently, Abel died on 5th of January 2019 due to a short illness. In fact, President Uhuru Kenyatta applauded Professor Abel Gitau Mugenda for his work.
The President of Kenya also praised him for being an outstanding scholar. Abel also made many notable contributions to education. Olive and her late husband also shared four children together.
