M J Akbar (born January 11, 1951) is an Indian Politician, Author and, Journalist based in Hooghly (India). In fact, he served as a member in Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh. Later on, PM Modi inducted him in the cabinet.
Akbar received the charge of Ministry of External Affairs in 2016. Earlier, he was a member of Congress party from 1999 to 2014. Furthermore, Mobashar elected as the MP in 1989 and 1991.
By the coming of 2014, he decided to move to BJP party. He took the position of the National Spokesperson. However, he left his position in the cabinet on November 2, 2018. His real birth name is Mobashar Jawed Akbar.

The reason behind that is multiple allegations of rape on him. According to the Washington Post, Pallavi Gogoi (Journalist & Chief Editor of NPR) accused to rape her in Jaipur’s hotel. It is an incident happened 23 years back. During that time, Ms. Pallavi was the editor of op-ed page Asian Age.
She claimed that the 67-year-old asked her to come to the hotel. In the next few months, Akbar forced her to move to Mumbai, Delhi, and Jaipur. Several other women whose names are not available put harassment allegation on him. Then, Ms. Gogoi decided to move to the USA and worked for Dow Jones.

The name of his sister is Gazala Akbar Sharma. His grandfather named Pragya who was a Hindu raised him. After that, Pragya converted into Islam and changed his name Rehmatullah.
