Cast

Plot

Killers of the Flower Moon is based on David Grann’s book of the same name, which was published in 2017 and became a best-seller. The book is a non-fiction account of one of the most sinister crimes in American history: the Osage Reign of Terror.

The film follows the events that took place in Osage County, Oklahoma, in the 1920s, when the Osage Nation, a Native American tribe that had been relocated to a barren land, discovered oil beneath their soil and became some of the richest people per capita in the world. However, their wealth also attracted greed and envy from the white population, who tried to exploit, cheat, and steal from them.

Soon, the Osage began to die under mysterious circumstances, ranging from shootings and poisonings to explosions and accidents. The death toll rose to more than 60 people, and the local authorities did little to investigate or prevent the killings. The case caught the attention of J. Edgar Hoover, the director of the Bureau of Investigation (later renamed the FBI), who sent a team of agents to Osage County to solve the mystery.

The film focuses on the story of Mollie Kyle, an Osage woman who married Ernest Burkhart, a white man who worked for his uncle, William Hale, a powerful rancher and businessman.
