Gita Gopinath (born December 8, 1971) is an Indian-American Professor at Harvard University from Mysore, Karnataka, India. Now, she is appointed as the Chief Economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In fact, Gita will take the place of Maurice Obstfeld. Furthermore, Maurice will retire from the post of Economic Counselor and Director of the IMF Research Department.
