Gillie Da Kid was born Nasir Fard on July 31, 1984, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Ben Franklin High School and then attended Cabrini College, where he majored in business and played basketball and track.

Musical Career

He started rapping at a young age and joined a seven-member rap group called Major Figgas in the late 1990s. The group signed a deal with Suave House Records from Houston, Texas, and released several tracks, including the hit single “Yeah That’s Us”. However, the label lost its distribution deal with Universal and the group disbanded.

Gillie Da Kid then embarked on a solo career and signed with Cash Money Records in 2003. He did not release any solo albums under the label, but he claimed that he ghostwrote many songs for Lil Wayne, the star rapper of Cash Money. This sparked a feud between Gillie Da Kid and Lil Wayne, which lasted for several years. Gillie Da Kid left Cash Money in 2006 and signed with Babygrande Records, an independent label.
