Franco Columbu (born August 7, 1941 – died August 30, 2019) was an Italian Powerlifter, Actor, Bodybuilder and Author from Ollolai, Italy. His athletic career started in the boxing ring. Then, he became a powerlifter and body lifter.
He won the Mr. Olympia title in 1976 and 1981. Furthermore, he performed many strongman acts since 1969. He competed in the World’s Strongest Man Competition and placed on the 5th position. Furthermore, his real birth name is Francesco Columbu.
Additionally, he broke the hot water bottle orally. However, he dropped the refrigerator race competition due to an injury. His leg also dislocated. The incident aired on national television.
Then, the court ordered to give him $1 million in compensation. Still, Franco passed away on August 30, 2019. Mr. Columbo’s death cause is drowning. He faced a severe heart attack while swimming. The authorities rushed him to the hospital where he declared dead.
